Liver Transplantation
In 2017 our team celebrates 25 years of liver transplantation. Tampa General Medical Group surgeons have performed over 1,000 liver transplants at Tampa General Hospital since that time, currently averaging 90-100 liver transplants per year. The Tampa General Medical Group offers adults with liver failure the seamless integration of medical and surgical expertise. Liver failure patients referred for transplant are cared for collaboratively by our group of hepatologists, transplant surgeons, psychologists, social workers and nurse coordinators. All of our transplant surgeons have completed an American Society of Transplant Surgery (ASTS) accredited fellowship and are board certified by the American College of Surgeons. Our transplant program is not only one of the busiest programs in the country, we also exceed national averages for graft and patient survival. Our commitment to excellence is proven in our outstanding outcomes year after year. Click here for the Liver Transplant Referral Form.
Outcomes
As reported by the Scientific Registry for Transplant Recipients (SRTR) in January 2012, our liver graft and patient survival rates at three years exceed national averages. Get detailed information regarding survival rates. Once under our care, you will be assigned a nurse coordinator who will follow you throughout the evaluation and transplant process. While hospitalized at Tampa General Hospital, you will be treated in a dedicated inpatient unit for pre-and post-transplant care.
