Pancreas Transplantation

In the past 10 years, over 200 patients have undergone pancreas transplantation at Tampa General Hospital. Tampa General Medical Group physicians have performed simultaneous pancreas and kidney (SPK) transplantation, pancreas after kidney transplant (PAK) and pancreas only transplants. Outcomes

As reported by the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients in January 2011, our one-year kidney graft survival is 98%, and one-year pancreas graft survival is 94% following SPK. Get more information regarding survival rates.

Patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team that includes transplant surgeons, transplant nephrologists, pre-transplant coordinators, post-transplant coordinators, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians and therapists.
